*Neurosis 1.8 By Stan Arts configurationfile.
*
*Set the amount of memory Neurosis can use, set : ht N where N is any number
*between 4 and 64 representing memorysize in MB. For instance : ht 16
*Bigger values then 64, or smaller values then 4 will be set to 64 or 4. Values
*do not have to be a power of 2, so for instance, values of 7 or 23 will work.
ht 64

*Turn on log to let Neurosis save it's thinking to a textfile neurosis.log
*log 0 = log off, and with: log 1 you turn log on. Existing neurosis.log files
*will be overwritten. A new one will be generated with each new start up of
*Neurosis.
log 1

*Put Neurosis in solve-mode by setting: sol 1 sol 0 is off/normal mode.
*In solve-mode Neurosis will look at everything (brute force) , and always find
*every tactic upto the depth it searches, but search a bit slower then normal.
*This option still exists for testingpurpouses, but except for weakening
*Neurosis, will have little use. Neurosis in normal mode also prunes very safely,
*and also always find any tactic, usualy on the same depth as in solve mode, but
*otherwise to a maximum of 3 ply later. Neurosis will be strongest with this
*option turned off.
sol 0

*You can let Neurosis behave more human-like by setting the option : hum 1
*This way it will mainly use it's time more realistic, for instance when a move
*can be played from openingbook, or when there is only 1 legal move, it will not
*play instantly, but wait with a random delay of several seconds.
*hum 1 is on, hum 0 is off. Neurosis will play strongest with this option off.
hum 0

*Make Neurosis play more speculative and agressive by setting the option :
*spe 1 or spe 2 . This increases positional importance relative to the
*material values, and might sacrifice material to get a positional advantage. This
*will sometimes lead to more interesting play. The options are 0=normal 1=risky
*2=super speculative. Setting 2 is "too much" to get most strength out of the
*program, but will make an entertaining human-like opponent. Setting 0 is default
*and probably strongest. But setting 1 might be as strong or stronger against
*opponents with a specific style, or fast games.
spe 0

*You can limit the calculatingspeed of Neurosis, by setting: slw 1 or slw 2 .
*Setting slw 1 will limit Neurosis to about 5000 nodes per second, and this will
*make it play weaker. I estimate to about 1600-2000 Elo.
*Setting slw 2 will limit Neurosis even more, to about 500 nodes per second and
*my estimate is to a strength between 1400-1600 elo. Try combining this option
*with the speculative option and human-like option to make an interesting
*opponent. Normal mode is: slw 0 , and Neurosis then will run as fast as possible,
*and be strongest.
slw 0

*Make Neurosis vary it's moves in similair positions a bit more by letting it
*use small random values when calculating moves. To turn this on : var 1
*Normal mode/off is : var 0 . When you enable this option, small positional
*differences between moves might get lost, and so Neurosis will play strongest
*with this option turned off.
var 0

*When you set this option Neurosis will resign when the score for Neurosis at
*the end of calculating a move is worse then the value set. rsn 0 is off.
*Minimum value for resign is 5 pawns behind. A value lower then 5 will set
*resign to off. Maximum value is 99. (Score for a mate in 1) A higher value will
*turn resign off.
*Example: rsn 8 will cause Neurosis to give up when it thinks it is 8 pawns or
*worse behind. It will not resign when a move was calculated to less then 6
*whole ply. Neurosis is strongest with this option turned off.
rsn 8
