Update Information: September 23, 2009

Posting by Ron, Thursday, September 24, 2009, 02:44:

Engine Updates

Chenard 2009.09.23 (WB)
"Fixed compiler warnings in the Linux text-only version of Chenard.
There were no algorithm changes, just minor tweaks in the file uistdio.cpp
that make the warnings go away."
http://cosinekitty.com/chenard/

Chesley the Chess Engine svn287 (WB)
no build for this version yet
latest builds: 1.1.2 JA(Win32/64), 1.1(Mac)
- Implement unapply(). This is the inverse function of apply, used to revert a position to its original state
http://sourceforge.net/projects/chesley/

Protector 1.2.7 (UCI)
revision(s) to the source code today (current = rev. 59)
no builds yet
- added 'threat limit' as a UCI option
- adjusted time control code
http://sourceforge.net/projects/protector/ (project site)
latest builds are here (updated more often than download files):
http://protector.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/protector/bin/ (bin files)

Toga II 2.0SE (UCI)
Yes, yet another Toga fork by the infamous Kranium along with Kiro
Because the name 'Toga II' conflicts with another engine, I will not add it to
my engine list unless it is markedly stronger than the other Toga II. Since
each author is only allowed 2 engines I can only add this engine if I delete
one of Kranium's (Norman Schmidt's) other engines.
http://www.cyclonechess.com/toga.htm

Twisted Logic 20090922 (WB/UCI)
For Win32/64. Pawn hash setting is tricky; Reports of crashes on some cpu/os combos
There was a silent update late in the day to correct crashing problems
Make sure you have the latest version
- complete eval rewrite
- improved search
http://ed.apostol.googlepages.com/home

Jim Ablett Win builds
- GnuChess 5.07.2b JA (WB) for Win32/64
Michel Van den Bergh's bugfixed GnuChess, compiled by Jim Ablett
--- Various bug fixes. In particular there was a bug (not my doing!) which caused
gnuchess 4.07.2b to react very slowly to closing the xboard window. Remarkably
standard gnuchess did not suffer from this because the effect was undone by another bug.
http://www.mediafire.com/?zmzmqlzcwyg (direct download)

NOTE: Latest cutting-edge beta versions of Winboard (*not* official) can be found here:
