Update: Chesley the Chess Engine 166
no build for this version yet
- Today’s commit fixes a very rare bug where search fails to return a move at the roor. The issue was with search instability and putting too much faith in the bounds stored in the transposition table.
- There were some other similiar screwups in the search that led to calling search with alpha > beta.
- I’ve made some design changes in the way I manage and use the transposition table. Looking back I think I took some wrong turns the first time around.
- I’ve made some simple improvements in position evaluation. There were a couple of things I absolutely knew I had to implement but put off because they were fiddly. That’s now in and I see a good improvement.
